A FEW OF OUR LOCAL PICKS

Visiting Spruce Creek Fly-In:
a guest guide.

A meal out, a beach afternoon, or a little time on the water. These are some of the places we share with guests staying at our home in Port Orange.

Marilyn & Billy

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

A place with its own
aviation rhythm.

Spruce Creek Fly-In is a gated residential aviation community in Port Orange. You don’t need to be a pilot to enjoy staying here: the greenery, aircraft activity, and relaxed setting are part of the experience.

Back at the house, our favorite part of the day is sunset—from the living room, beside the pool, or out back. You may also see resident pilots flying overhead; aircraft activity varies and isn’t a scheduled attraction.

This is a working residential airpark. Give aircraft the right of way, stay away from the runway and restricted taxiways, and follow community signs. Golf-course views at the home do not include club access.

FROM OUR HOUSE MANUAL

Where to eat.

Our shortlist for breakfast, a casual meal, or an evening out. The links below go to the restaurants’ own websites for menus, locations, and current hours.

CLOSE TO HOME

Fly In Café ↗

A neighborhood option in Spruce Creek Fly-In. Coming by aircraft requires separate POA arrangements, even when visiting a business.

A CASUAL BITE

Keep it easy

  • The Taco Shack — a casual New Smyrna Beach pick.
  • Café Verde — another New Smyrna Beach option, including vegetarian selections.
AN EVENING OUT

SoNapa Grille ↗

A dinner-and-wine option with several area locations. Check the website to choose your location and make plans.

SALT AIR & SAND

Choose your
beach day.

Our nearby beach picks are Wilbur-by-the-Sea, Ponce Inlet, Daytona Beach, and New Smyrna Beach. Pick your destination and public access point before setting out; parking arrangements and beach-driving access vary.

For a Ponce Inlet outing, consider pairing time by the ocean with a visit to the lighthouse. Check each attraction’s admission and access details separately.

Check current conditions, lifeguard flags, access closures, parking fees, and posted rules before heading out. A beach recommendation is not a guarantee that swimming conditions will be safe.

A LITTLE TIME OUTSIDE

Gardens, trails & water.

02

Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve ↗

Explore local trails and the Spruce Creek landscape. Check the county’s maps for the appropriate trailhead, permitted activities, and current conditions.

03

Spruce Creek Park ↗

Another option for a nature outing in Port Orange. Use the county’s visitor information to plan your route and visit.

04

Cracker Creek ↗

A local starting point for exploring the creek. Contact the operator for current paddling, tour, and booking options before visiting.

05

Marine Discovery Center ↗

Explore New Smyrna Beach’s Indian River Lagoon through the center’s boat or kayak programs. Check current offerings, departure locations, and reservations.

Outdoor plans depend on weather, water conditions, and seasonal access. Observe wildlife from a distance, never feed it, and use designated trails and launch points. The pond at our home is not a swimming or paddling destination.

MAKE A DAY OF IT

A little farther
afield.

Blue Spring State Park ↗

A day-trip idea known for its winter manatee visitors. Water activities, capacity, and access can change seasonally, so check park alerts before driving over. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

St. Augustine & Castillo de San Marcos ↗

Set aside a day for St. Augustine’s historic streets and waterfront. The National Park Service has current information for visiting Castillo de San Marcos.

Flagler Beach

Another coastal destination from our house manual for a change of scenery. Check your chosen beach access and parking before leaving.

BEFORE YOU GO

A few practical questions.

Do I need to be a pilot to stay here?

No. Our home welcomes non-pilots too. Many guests come to visit people in the community, enjoy the area, or work remotely in a different setting.

Does booking include airport or country-club access?

No. Airport permission, aircraft registration and parking must be arranged separately under POA requirements. Club facilities and golf access are not included with the home.

What should we arrange before arriving?

Coordinate your arrival and any visiting guests with us. Tell us in advance about aircraft or special parking needs. Community vehicle restrictions apply; do not assume that a trailer, boat, or RV can be parked at the home. Confirm current requirements with us before making plans.

Can we work remotely during our stay?

The home has a dedicated office with a motorized standing desk, three monitors, and HDMI/Thunderbolt connections. Reliable Wi-Fi uses eero extenders throughout the house, with good coverage by the pool. There’s also a table and office chair on the back porch. Ask us about laptop compatibility or specific work requirements before booking.

Are all the recommendations within the community?

No. Fly In Café is in Spruce Creek Fly-In; the other dining, beach, and nature recommendations are in the surrounding area or are day trips. Plan transportation and check each venue’s own information.

Recommendations adapted from our guest manual. Public links checked November 2026. Businesses, access rules, and operating schedules can change; confirm details directly. This independent guide is not affiliated with the POA or the businesses listed.
